Rugby 7s is a game that originated in Scotland. In 1883, Ned Haig of Melrose in the Scottish Borders came up with this shortened version of the game as a fund raising initiative for his local club.
Since then the game has gone from strength to strength and it was recently inducted into the Olympic program of events from 2016 onward. This honour has helped add to the sport's burgeoning global popularity.

A Brief History of the Sport
Our 7s
The Braidholm 7s was established in recognition of the growing appetite for the sport.
While many tournaments follow an invitational format and a rigid tournament structure, the Braidholm 7s is fast becoming the largest 'open' 7s tournament in Scotland. We focus on the social side as well as the rugby side of the tournament to make our event a great occasion for competitor and spectator alike - whether you win or lose. We encourage entries from outwith the club game - why not call up your old school mates and put a team together?!
We welcome teams from far and wide so why not come spend a weekend with us in Glasgow and enjoy the famous Glasgow banter and hospitality.
